Hey Fellow Scotch Lovers! I'm ready to start a local Scotch Tasting Club, where we all meet and share a bottle of our favorite Scotches. I've done this many times and have found it to be a great, and inexpensive, way to taste some really great Scotches without breaking my budget! I've tasted the best of the best at some of these parties! I'm located in the SF Bay, but starting up a club in your area might be fun as well. Please write me if you're interested. Here's to fine tasting...

Re: Local Scotch Tasting Party
Mon, July 7, 2008 - 8:27 PMI'd like to poll the members on that, but initially, I'm thinking $40 to 60 range and then we can go from there. Of course, we can arrange a tasting around all budgets. I purposely didn't specify "Single Malts" because there are some really great affordable blends out there. I love the Singles, but a great Scotch is a great Scotch, whether it's blended or not, neat or on the rocks, etc....The best event I attended was a Christmas time Scotch tasting party and that was the one where I brought my $250 bottle of Highland Park...there was a wide range of prices, but plenty of jewels too...you know, those Scotches below 60 bucks that just mesmerize the taste buds...

Mon, July 7, 2008 - 9:35 PMI might be persuaded to bring something out of my (frighteningly overstocked) cabinet. I'm not much interested in blends, though. -

Tue, July 8, 2008 - 9:37 AMHey Patti,
It would be fun to persuade you to raid your cabinet...anything we can do to help the "overstocked" condition of said cabinet would be our pleasure...literally:)
I'm a big fan of single malts as well, but my favorite blend is Johnny Walker Blue...no slouch and not very cheap either... -

The top shelf is 100% singlemalts. The bottom right is overflow, and is mostly second-rate stuff like mass-market distillery bottlings. If you sign into Flickr you can view the image full-size and read some of the labels. -
