Anyone try it? It's on sale at the WASLCB--says something about three types of casks--and sherry overtones---worth $35?

Wed, June 27, 2007 - 8:33 AMI love it.

Re: Glenfiddich Solera Reserve (15yrs)
Wed, June 27, 2007 - 4:05 PMIt's not a personal favorite. I don't think it has much character, and find it almost bland. But that's just me. -

Re: Glenfiddich Solera Reserve (15yrs)
Thu, June 28, 2007 - 8:38 AMIf you like Laphroaig, Lagavullin, Johnnie Walker red/black/green, it's not for you. If you like lighter, sweeter scotches, it may well be. -

Re: Glenfiddich Solera Reserve (15yrs)
Thu, June 28, 2007 - 6:45 PMYeah, I gave it an honest shot, it just wasn't for me. I know lots of people who love it, though. I mean, it IS the world's best selling single malt scotch, after all. There's probably a reason for that :-) -

Re: Glenfiddich Solera Reserve (15yrs)
Fri, June 29, 2007 - 7:58 AMI'd put it next to Aberlour 15. In fact, that would make a great blend. I don't have a lot of experience with Glenrothes, but it was good, and have not had Dalwhinnie (but have had Dalmore).

Re: Glenfiddich Solera Reserve (15yrs)
Fri, June 29, 2007 - 2:26 PMI am most fond of smokey, peaty scotches, but this one ranks high on my list for the price. It is a sweeter scotch than I usually like, but it is strong on character and if enjoyed with a single cube of ice it awakens with a beautiful bouquet and rich flavor....Well worth the $35-40 price. -

Re: Glenfiddich Solera Reserve (15yrs)
Fri, June 29, 2007 - 2:53 PMYes, it does have a wonderful nose. That's how I judge scotch -- I smell it and if I picture myself sitting in a big, comfy chair in a fancy hotel lobby sipping the scotch, then I like it.

Re: Glenfiddich Solera Reserve (15yrs)
Fri, June 29, 2007 - 3:04 PMOk--I bought a bottle--I usually like a peat-y smoky-salty scotch--Oban is my all time favourite--but this is drinkable--with a distinct Sherry flavour--I will keep it around and serve it to my friends that don't usually like my single malts. -
