So, due to the recent discussion about old scotches, I began wondering what would happen if one took a not so good scotch and placed it in the appropriate barrel/cask/wood keg for further aging? Anyone tried that? I suspect that it might work and allow one to actually hone a bad scotch into a passable one...if one were patient enough that is. Certainly seems possible...

Re: Late barrel aging anyone? Anyone?
Wed, June 20, 2007 - 6:01 PMNo idea..... but they get crap scotch all the time - hence blending...
Thinking for a millisecond more.... .they swap scotch into different barrels all the time (hence "Port Finish" etc) .. So I would guess, and I do qualify by they word guess, that there would be not problem at all in taking "a not so good scotch and placed it in the appropriate barrel/cask/wood keg for further aging"
